Visited Zhouzhuang today, a town that’s about an hour away from Suzhou, and famous for its canals. It was absolutely magnificent, and picturesque no matter where you look. I LOVE old buildings and ancient towns, so wandering along the canals and alleyways here is probably one of my favorite part of this trip!
See you in a month, China. I will definitively miss you 💕
China is changing so quickly. Every time after coming back from holidays I feel like a million of new shops has been opened and closed while I was gone. Some places that I used to love are not there anymore. That is one of the things I like about living here. Life goes on.
Каждый раз, когда я возвращаюсь с отдыха, кажется, что все в городе поменялось. Магазины и места, которые когда-то были, уже не существуют. Эта одна из причин почему мне тут нравится. Все меняется очень быстро.
Here's to the empaths, to the emotional artists, the ones whose outlet is simply feeling.
You are better than you know. ✌🏻
Dear friends, I am raising the initiation fund for the ecotourism project in a nature preserve and the Tibetan-Lisu villages within in Yunnan, Southwest China. Facing various ecological crisis, conservation awareness is still largely lacking and few insightful ecotourism exist in China. Three years ago, I and several Earlham alumni started planning for this ecotourism project and received the support from the director of the regional Natural Resources Department. This past summer, my teammates and I flew to the nature preserve to start getting to know the place, designing the tourism experience, as well as holding workshops for the long-term animal behavior researchers and local business owners. Now the Snub-nosed Monkey and Tibetan-Lisu Cultural Ecotourism has been published for guests to book.
By publishing on Airbnb Experience platform, we saved the expanses of company registration and managed to pay for the expanses (e.g. accommodation) during workshop through personal savings. However, now we need extra financial support to complete the launching stage of the experience. To establish market channels for this experience, we need to bring hotel owners from nearby tourist cities for site visit (e.g. Shangri-La Old Town). Drawing guests for trials would generate valuable e-Word-of-Mouth reviews and give feedbacks for improvement. Furthermore, it would be most helpful for our teammates to be present at the site and guide the local business owners for service quality monitoring and control during the launching stage. Due to the local culture and language differences, training would be essential for the transition to welcome domestic and international guests.
Any amount would be appreciated and your support will go a long way by initiating a social entrepreneurship, which helps conserve the natural and cultural heritage of the Tibetan-Lisu region, Tacheng, Southwest China, empowering the local community, which is losing labors due to the lack of work opportunities, and also raise awareness of conservation among Chinese citizens.
