Spending some time yesterday with the Tundra Swans! Their comings and goings; their calls; their contentment; their presence in this moment, here and now; and their trust in their instinct and their power.
The same power that will take them over 6000 km in a round trip journey each year on their annual migration from their wintering grounds on the Eastern seaboard in Delaware to their summer breeding grounds in the Canadian Arctic. Along the route they stop at ‘staging’ areas – wetlands and fields where they can feed and rest.
They have stopped here, very close to where I live. They may stay here a day or two, or several days. This has become an annual springtime ritual for me, looking forward to the swans' visit as a harbinger of spring, and a reminder to trust in my own inner strength. Everything we need for our own journey is already inside of us; we just need to listen for that inner voice and allow ourselves to be instinctively and intuitively guided to act according to its wisdom.
